Specific Doctoral Training Requirements - Materials Science and Technology (MST)

Within the Doctoral Programme in Materials Science and Technology, each European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) credit corresponds to 8 hours of coursework. This equivalence may be subject to future revisions should inconsistencies or issues arise in the mutual recognition of courses with other doctoral programmes within the same macro-area.

MST doctoral students are required to:

• Attend at least 8 seminars organised directly by the MST doctoral programme or by its affiliated departments (DII, DFA, DiSC), worth 1 ECTS credit in total.
• Earn 3 ECTS credits in soft skills courses, drawing from the MST doctoral programme's offerings or the University's own resources (e.g. the PhD Educational Week).
• Earn 12 ECTS credits in specialist courses (hard skills) by attending teaching modules delivered directly by MST or - for a maximum of 3 ECTS credits - by participating in courses offered by related doctoral programmes at UNIPD, or in national and international schools, workshops, and summer/winter schools aimed at doctoral students or early-career researchers, provided that the activity is certified by the successful completion of a final examination.
