Pharmaceutical Sciences

The research lines reflect those of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences (DSF) and cover a wide variety of timely research arguments in the field of pharmaceutical sciences:

Drug design and synthesis. Development of computational methodologies and the use of bioinformatics for target identification/characterization and drug development. Synthesis of single entities as well as libraries of small compound for (bio)pharmaceutics applications

Molecular mechanisms of drug action. Biochemical and biophysical characterization of the interactions between drugs and molecular receptors through advanced analytical methods and biotechnological approaches. In vitro (cells and tissues) and in vivo studies to dissect the biological pathways involved in the mechanism of action of known and new drugs.

Advanced drug delivery and biopharmaceuticals. Development of novel drug delivery systems for the targeted delivery and controlled release of pharmaceuticals.
